The cost of paid medical services in Russia began to grow faster
March, 3rd. /MEDIA TALK/. Prices for medical services in private clinics are growing at an accelerated pace, in some cases reaching 50% in annual terms.

Such data is presented in the Mains Lab study for 2022-2024, Kommersant reports today.

In 2023, the average price increase was 6%, and in 2024 it was already 8%. For example, the cost of blood and urine tests has increased by 5-6%, and appointments with a therapist, neurologist and other specialists have increased in price by 6-9%. There were isolated cases of an increase in the cost of services by 50% or more.

At the same time, price changes vary: some clinics have not changed tariffs for years, others increase them regularly, and the price increase ranges from 5 to 13% in 2024. Clinics explain the increase by inflation and the need to increase salaries for employees. However, experts believe that in some cases this is an attempt to shift from VMI to private clients, who allegedly bring more profit. Commodity inflation, which is about 20% per year, also has an impact on the market.

Insurers call the price increase above medical inflation (which, according to experts, is 7-12%) "prohibitive." Overcharging by partner clinics may lead to the exclusion of clinics from VMI programs, which will negatively affect their workload.

Experts predict further price increases, but note that endless growth is impossible. Clinics will have to look for more affordable pricing strategies, reduce costs and expand the range of services.

In January 2025, the average inflation rate in Russia, according to Rosstat, reached 9.92%.
